Reign is running around terrorizing the house now! She has to feel so much better with those staples and stitches out. Our vet wrote down the name for me since my brain decided not to work lol
Idiopathic Sterile nodular panniculitis
We all know why there was zero chance for me to remember that! It’s rare but is seen in dachshunds more commonly. No one knows much about what causes it but but trauma ย can trigger it. And we know she has had some trauma in the last 8 months! We are waiting 2 weeks for her to finish healing before starting treatment since we will be lowering her immune system. This will just be something we watch with her since this can go into remission and pop up again or she may never show any signs again. I just wanted to give an update and I will be posting in ask a vet. Thank you everyone for just being here and giving us emotional support!
Alrighty Reign, here we go with a great vig cheer for you!! YAAAAAAAAAY FOR REIGN!! ๐
Not sure what that fancy sounding name is you “have”…or better yet..HAD, but it’s not bothering you getting on with a happy life!!!
So glad all your stitches are out ๐ Pretty sure thst calls for a scoop of ice cream AND pizza crust!
Lots of love!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
PS…I saw your post under Ask A Vet…interested to see her response.
Are you looking in my windows?! Reign just had a piece of crust not 10 minutes ago!! Lol
To sum up that fancy name, her immune system works too well and attacked the layer of fat under her skin causing the bumps. Her outbreak wasn’t bad compared to other cases I’ve seen while looking on line. We will do a round of steroids and hopefully suppress her immune system to put the disease into remission. If it does come back she will have to do more steroids but will not need surgery . She just has to keep us on our toes!!
Well, just as I finished posting this, I saw the response. Sounds like you are doing exactly what needs to be done!
Hoooorrraaaaay! Just had a chance to read blogs and am really glat to hear she’s kickin’ butt, and that you found out what the heck was going on. Here’s to a great recovery!
