Just wanted to update everyone on Reign and her autoimmune disease. She had her check up today to start the high dose round of steroids. Just in time too since yesterday we discovered another lump. These things pop up quick. Since she’s starting with a lump it will be easier to know if it is working since there are no tests to find out. We go back in a month to see where she’s at, have some blood work done to make sure the steroids aren’t hurting her and start a different medicine. This disease crazy to me. Most people here are trying to boost the pets immune system and here we are trying to lower Reign’s.
Thanks to a dachshund page on Facebook I was able to find 2 people that have dealto with this also. The story that really gave me hope was an 8 year old dachshund was attacked by a cat and ended up having his jaw broken and losing an eye. The disease showed up 2 months later. Same treatment as Reign is doing and he past away in his sleep at 18 YEARS OLD! He lived with this for 10 years with this disease and they just watched for new lumps and made sure when he was on the steroids he didn’t put on too much weight.
Here’s a link about Sterile nodular panniculitis, in Reign’s case hers is idiopathic since there was no infection of any kind

Reign is still doing amazing, terrorizing the neighborhood and making sure the squirrels know she’s still the boss. She happy to be getting “special ” cheese again.
Thank you once again for this site and the support you give everyone.
Love the pearls!
Oh sweet Pri cess Reigh! Your pearls really are befitting of a Royal Princess! You look absolutely stunning in them! And your beautiful kitty friend in the background looks like she’s bpwing” to the Queen/Princess! 🙂
I’m really glad you found that inspirational story on facebook. What a crazy “disease”. I’m glad you were able ro get it properly diagnosed and get the treatment started.
Reign is such a special girl. I just love her spunk. She has been through so much and just plpws through any hurdles and moves past it! Of course, having such devoted humans by her side makes for a very powerful team!
Thanks for the update and, of course, the beautiful photo of Princess Reign!
Lots of love!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
That is Casper in the background, he adores Reign and wants to lay on her but Reign isn’t having it!
She spent most of yesterday strutting around showing off her pearls!! It really showed us she is back 100%
What a pretty picture! All she needs is a pink sweater.
Ok we’ll keep our paws & fingers crossed that this works. You’ve got a challenge on your hands but at least you can see you’re not alone and others have dealt with it too. Ah the magic of the Internet!
Hi- I had replied on your face book page but forgot this. This is more than likely a lifetime disease and it costs a lot of money for the proper medicines. I found Allivet online Pet Pharmacy. Let me tell you 1/3 the cost of our Vet and even lower than Costco. Your Vet should give you no problem using Allivet as they should want you to afford Princess Reign the best possible Treatment. All medication were name brand same as i got in the Vet’s office and at the regular pharmacy. Give it a try, you will love it.
Thanks. I just saw the Facebook comment. Lucky for us Reign isn’t a food hound! She is definitely eating more but I’ve always measured food out for all of our dogs. I just have to watch her cause she will now try to steal her sister’s food. She had a check up today and hasnt put any weight on. So far the supplements and steroids are not costing us very much but I will check out that site just in case!!
